Pawport is a motorized pet door that opens for your dog and locks with two steel deadbolts when it doesn't. We install it in Birmingham and across Alabama, and we handle the app setup before we leave.
We have installed electronic pet doors for years. PlexiDor's RFID line is still a good answer for anyone who wants a collar-key door with no app to manage, and we still sell and install it. Pawport is a different category: motorized, controlled from your phone, and secured like a real door.
A flap is a hole in your wall with fabric over it. Pawport closes to a solid panel and throws two deadbolts. There is an alarm if something forces it.
A smart tag on the collar tells the door who is coming. Battery life is around a year. Raccoons, strays, and the neighbor's dog do not have one.
Lock it, unlock it, or set a curfew from anywhere. Works with Alexa, Google Home, and Siri.
Rain lock and lightning lock close the door automatically when the weather turns. One-way entry means your dog can still get in.
The panel opens and closes gently rather than snapping. There is a childproof button disable on the interior panel.
Plug-in is included. Concealed wiring, battery, and solar are available if an outlet is not where you need it.
Pawport is not sold the way our other doors are. You buy the door straight from the manufacturer, and you pay us for the parts and labor that put it in your house. Here is exactly who does what.
Ordering through our link saves you $50 on the door. It also tells Pawport which certified installer is doing the work, so your order and your install stay connected. Use the link, or enter the code at checkout.
ALABAMADOGDOORS50Most Pawport jobs are a wall or a door. Both are straightforward for a crew that has been cutting pet door openings since the nineties.
A framed opening with a Pawport tunnel sized to your wall depth. Wood, brick, block, or stone, priced by what we have to cut through. The most permanent option and the one that looks most built-in.
Straight into a wood, fiberglass, or steel-clad entry door. If you already have a pet door, Pawport can often retrofit onto the existing frame with no new cutting at all.
A glass mount is available where the situation suits it. Glass work depends on outside suppliers, so lead times run longer and we quote it case by case. Ask us before you plan around it.
Size by shoulder height first and weight second. If you are between sizes, go up. We confirm the size with you before anything gets ordered.
| Size | Door opening | Fits pets up to |
|---|---|---|
| Medium | 15.4" W x 20.5" H | 85 lbs |
| Large | 15.4" W x 24.5" H | 125 lbs |
| Extra Large | 15.4" W x 28.5" H | 125 lbs and up |
Pawport publishes a full size guide and the current finish options on their site. Both series are aluminum, and finishes range from flat colors to wood grains.
Pawport is new to our lineup. Cutting a clean opening, sealing it properly, and hanging a door that still works in ten years is not.
Our installers completed Pawport's certification program. That covers the tunnel and frame system, the mounting procedure for each install type, and the app setup we run before we leave your house.
That is how Pawport sells it. The door ships to you directly from the manufacturer, which keeps your warranty with the company that built it. We supply the tunnel or mount, do the installation, and set the door up. Two invoices, one finished job.
Pawport can often mount onto an existing frame without cutting anything new. Send us a photo and a measurement of the current opening and we will tell you whether a retrofit works or whether it is cleaner to start over.
We do it at the install. Syncing the door, adding each pet with their tag, setting any schedules you want, and walking you through the controls before we pack up. You should be able to use it the day it goes in.
Pawport warranties the door itself, and you deal with them directly on it. We stand behind our installation work the same way we do on every other door we install. If something is wrong and you are not sure which it is, call us and we will help you sort out who to talk to.
Depends on what is bothering you. If the problem is heat loss or a flap that wore out, a Hale or an Endura Flap solves it for a lot less money. If the problem is that anything can walk through your pet door at three in the morning, no flap fixes that. Tell us the actual problem and we will tell you straight.
Yes. We install across central and north Alabama, including Huntsville, Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, and the lake communities. Past 25 miles from our office there is a travel charge of $2.25 per mile, and we tell you the exact number before you commit.
Send a photo of the wall or door, tell us your dog's size, and we will come back with what it takes and what it costs. If a Pawport is the wrong answer for your situation, we will tell you that too.
